Two Daughters, Two Roads, One Fierce, Loving Heart in Each
This week, my daughter Milly received not one, but two degrees — both with honors — while raising three children, juggling baseball games, and running her own salon business — all while navigating the terrain of life constantly demanding more than it gave.
She earned an Associate of Sciences in Social & Behavioral Sciences, and an Associate of Arts in Psychology for Transfer.
I’m proud of her. Quietly, deeply, and completely.
Not just for the degrees — but for the strength it took to keep showing up and completing difficult homework between baseball practices and long days at work.
And speaking of strength…
I want to honor my eldest daughter as well — who forged a different, equally powerful path.
After helping others build their businesses through her focused attention to detail, problem-solving, and financial management, she built her own from scratch.
She taught herself accounting, raised three daughters as a single mother, and has been recognized for her excellence, organization, and depth — now recommended for the highly demanding role of tax accountant, a position typically reached through years of formal study.
She’s also now mastering advanced accounting software and preparing to run highly detailed tax systems — where even the smallest error isn’t an option.
She also maintains an older home and large rural property on her own — while teaching her children to grow organic food and care for the land that sustains them.
She’s proud of all this. And I am too.
To both of you — I see you.
You’ve become women I’m in awe of.
Different journeys. Same fierce light.
