Slaying the Dragon of Verification: One Scroll at a Time
The Crowning Moment of a Day Spent in the Digital Dungeon
After a full day of navigating verification labyrinths, error messages, and glitchy goblins, I finally emerged victorious — but not without a deep encounter with digital frustration.
There are days when building a sacred online presence feels like communing with the divine.
And then there are days where you’re nose-deep in the underworld of DNS settings, TXT records, spinning error wheels, and vague instructions from Google Search Console that seem written in an ancient tongue — possibly Draconic.
This is the tale of one such day.
Into the Belly of the Beast
It began innocently enough. “Let’s verify the website,” we said. “It’ll just take a moment,” we said. A few simple steps, maybe an HTML tag or two.
Hours later… we were in a battle royale with digital riddles and the occasional missing cPanel menu. There were moments we were sure we’d wandered into the wrong portal — others where the door was there but wouldn’t open until we whispered the precise incantation. (Or remembered where the TXT record was.)
The Dungeon of the Spinning Circle
Every time it looked like we were making progress, we were greeted by a familiar foe:
“Updating failed — you are probably offline.”
Were we? No.
But the system thought we were, and we began to wonder if this was some metaphor for existence.
Between browser refreshes, hidden fields, and file uploads that wouldn’t stick, we pressed on. We reminded ourselves: this is a ritual. Even if it smells like burnt circuitry and old socks, it’s still a ritual.
The Crowning Moment
And then — after chanting the ancient phrase “www.pleasejustwork.com” and uploading the enchanted HTML file to the root of the digital temple — it happened.
Verification.
The screen turned green. The dragons sighed and lay down. Google nodded, and the gates opened.
And in that moment, a tiara was placed upon a fluff-covered queen.
Literally.
To commemorate our triumph, I brushed little Juliette and perched atop her soft topknot a tiara that once belonged to the beloved Cheyana. Though it was a bit large for her royal head, the photograph captured the exact frequency of victory.
A moment that had nothing to do with DNS records, but everything to do with what this blog — and this journey — is about.
Wisdom of the Day:
Even the most sacred mission may require a little technical plumbing.
Even the most spiritual person may need to learn how to create a TXT record.
And sometimes, the crowning moment is a poodle in a tiara, reminding us why we bother to make a space online to begin with.
